Body & Ergonomics

November 15th, 2008

This year’s design team consists of three students - Jens Kallin, the group project manager, Gorm Haraldsson, who is responsible for the exterior, and Per Nilsson, who is responsible for the interior. We will jointly develop the new design of Baldos.

We strive to make a car where the body and the driving environment looks professional and very well distributed. The functionality of the design is also a very important part of the car. Aspects that will be improved over last years design include an engine hatch and a larger side door, for easier access and entry.

One of the objectives is that a driver of any length should be able to fit into the car comfortably. Another is that it must be easy to understand and handle, to enable inexperienced persons to drive it.

In order to maintain the car’s identity, we will keep the basic shape of the body from last year, but give it a facelift. Components that will be updated include lights, rear view mirrors, wheels, and steering wheel. Our ultimate goal for Baldos is that it should feel like a production vehicle, not a home-built prototype.
